All you need to know about the HTC One M8

The HTC One M8 is undeniably a beautifully designed phone with a wonderful build quality. At the time of release a couple of years ago it was vying with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 5s to be rated as the best phone of the year. Many industry experts gave the title to this fantastic phone made by HTC.

The specifications hold up, even though the phone is no longer the latest model and when coupled with the fact that a refurbished model can be taken out on contract it means you get a well specified award winning phone at an amazingly low price.

So onto the phone itself. The phone chassis is made up of 90% metal with much of it brushed aluminium in metal grey, amber gold or arctic silver. The vast majority of refurbished HTC One M8 phones tend to be finished in grey which is no bad thing as this is a particularly classy finish. The curved metallic back gives the phone a sturdy, but stylish feel.
The 5 inch LCD3 screen which has a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is capable of producing stunning images and is one of the first screens on a mobile phone that is able to rival the retina display of the iPhone models.

A standout feature of the One M8 is the quality of the BoomSound speakers. If like me you like to stream music of video through your phone you will have experienced the weak, tinny and generally low volume of phone speakers on the vast majority of models which can be a source of frustration. HTC have added speakers to the One M8 that output a sound that belies the size of the device in both volume and levels of base. Beats audio were involved in the sound output of the phone and it clearly shows.

The phone runs a quad-core 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and has 2GB of RAM so it is a well specified phone that will cope with video playback, Internet browsing, streaming and gaming with no problems.

The camera system on the One M8 is novel in that it uses dual sensors and lenses with many of the features operating via the UFocus and Foregrounder software. UFocus allows you to defocus on certain aspects of your shot so that objects in the distance can become blurred for instance and Foregrounder gives you different picture modes such as “sketch”, “cartoon”, etc. which can add a fun twist to photos.

Storage on the phone shouldn’t be an issue for most people. The default options are 16GB or 32GB of storage on-board but this can be increased by the use of a microSD card to add up to 128GB more space to the phone.

The battery life is comparable to the other phones in its class and it is able to run the latest version of Android (currently Lollipop).

There are still stocks of refurbished HTC One M8 phones available on monthly contract but as they are popular models they can run out of availability quickly.

Refurbished HTC One M8 Review

The HTC One M8 is an excellent Android phone which is comparable to the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S5 in terms of features. A refurbished model of this phone would represent superb value as the specifications of the phone are still high.
